By Marc Lawrence — Like a surgeon performing open heart surgery, Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers wielded a nasty scalpel in stopping Seattle in
its tracks at Lambeau Field last week when he hit key third-down passes time after time in the late stages of the Packers’ 28-23 Divisional Round win. On the flip side, San Francisco looked anything but an inexperienced playoff squad in its methodical 27-10 mauling of Minnesota behind a stop-unit that held its fifth opponent to under 200 yards this season. With it, the meat-packers are at Levi’s Stadium this Sunday in the NFL title game where Green Bay will look to avenge their worst loss of the season – and 3rd worst in Rodger’s NFL career – a 37-8 drubbing they suffered here Thanksgiving Week. Rest assured, the Packers will look to drive a spike into the Niners’ heart knowing Frisco is not only 1-4-2 ATS in the postseason in this series, they are also 0-10-1 ATS as favorites against avenging foes the past seven seasons. Toss in the fact that NFL playoff teams that won 4 or fewer games the previous season are just 1-12 SU when coming off a playoff win of 5 or more points and we find ourselves on the take once again today. It’s not hard, not with Rodgers’ 6-0 ATS in his career as a dog of more than 6 points, as well as his 6-1 ATS mark as a dog of 3 or more points against foes coming off consecutive SUATS wins. And also knowing that dogs of more than 6 points with same-season revenge in the playoff are 16-6 ATS when tackling foes coming off a pair of SUATS wins. Wrapping it up we note: the Green Bay Packers are 9-1 in one-possession games this season. They were 2-6-1 in one-possession games last season
