The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

TAMPA BAY TODAY – JUL 1

Don’t want to overthink today’s feature race in Oldsmar, the second and final day of the track’s Summer Racing Festival.

Zarina (9-5) ships north from Gulfstream where she finished fourth at a much higher grade last out. Not only is she getting class relief here, but she is also favored by other dynamics.

On the Halladale turf last out, she saved ground at no point of the mile and a sixteenth turf trip, in fact, continued to lose more ground as the race unfolded.

She made her attempted winning run five to six wide on the turn but after reaching the stretch, she failed to switch over to her correct right lead.

See the replay as decide for yourself: GULFSTREAM PARK, MAY 21, Race 9. We think you’ll agree.

Trainer Chad Steward shows a lifetime profit with his turf runners, hooked up successfully with Jermaine Bridgmohan recently and today’s spacing of 41 days is optimum for this outfit. She is worthy of her 9-5 early line quote.

We’re taking her to win, with no price restrictions, and key-boxing exactas with Chick’s Shadow (7-2), exiting the same race and would benefit from rescheduling to a wet main track if needed, and Fillmore East (6-1), who appears to be sitting on an explosive line.
