By Gulfstream Press Staff — The total handle record for the Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth Stakes was smashed Saturday when bettors wagered $36.5 million on the 14-race program..

                                    Total Handle Up $16 Million Since 2015


The previous record was $31.230 million set on last year’s 14-race program. Total handle for the third highest profile day of the Championship Meet has increased by $16 million since 2015, when total handle was $20.585 million.

“We want to thank our patrons and horsemen for participating and supporting this great day of racing,” said Gulfstream’s Vice President of Racing Mike Lakow.

“There was a tremendous energy in the building today from morning until evening. We’re looking forward to more great racing and entertainment during the last month of the Championship Meet culminating in the $1 million Curlin Florida Derby March 28.”
