Race 1 Review by Dave Brower |
1 BRONZE YANKEE – This gelding was pretty well-traveled last year at two, so that experience always helps going forward. Looks like he had some breaking problems, but I like the look of the Goshen qualifier. Must go faster now.
2 TAKE THE CREDIT – Went 0-7 last year as a freshman. Stamina seems like the thing lacking, so Team Svanstedt will have to work on that. Qualifier wasn’t bad, but wasn’t breathtaking either. I want to watch one.
3 BLUFFINNER – Love the fact that he got a check in his one and only start last year. And, it came on a big-size track. The pedigree is strong, so they put him away to mature. Qualifier looks great on paper. Let’s take a LONG look at him.
4 GERARD – Another one that has shown a lack of stamina so far. Pretty much packed it in when the test came here two Saturday’s ago. I need to see some good ones before I could endorse.
5 KASHA V – Had a slowish kind of start in his 3YO debut at huge odds. Made a move, but didn’t sustain it. Pass for now.
6 PATS INSPIRATION – Very intriguing filly here for a new barn. Tried the hopples once and that didn’t work. Seemed to go evenly down at Magical Acres. Not sure she’s ready to fire her best shot just yet. I will be watching closely.
7 AP HALL OF TRIX – Of all the qualifiers here, this guy may have went the best! Flashed good speed. Kept up and trotted home nicely and strongly for Clifton. I liked what I saw. Seems overdue to get that first win. Take a shot!
8 THE NEXT ONE – Another of the fillies in here, trying to beat the boys. They paid a lot of money for her too! And, she’s been developed patiently by Jeff. That WILL pay off in long run. The prep at Spring Garden looks perfect. Bad post?
9 HEYTHERGRACI – Definitely a “work in progress” for a very good trotting trainer. I still need to see a good one.
10 I’llALWAYSBEBACK – It’s not very fair when you get stuck with post 10 in two straight. Sorry about that.

Race 2 Review |
1 HURRIKANEMYSHANNON – Has the benefit of a trip over the track, and that’s faster than she’s ever gone. Not bad! She is running into another pretty talented field here. No easy spots, as we get back to racing. Must step it up.
2 SHAKE N GO – Jimmy Marohn seems to be driving everything for the Ack barn right now. He will help! This lass got TWO qualifiers in, which is another plus. One at Pinehurst. One at Goshen. Has to go faster, but eventually will.
3 DISCOFORADOLLAR – What on earth do we do with this lass? Where on earth did that qualifier come from? Looks like she sold in Lexington, and then the Crawfords took a piece? She could be any kind. BUT, running into a killer in #7.
4 KISSIMMEE BEACH – Definitely a “work in progress” for her Hall of Fame trainer. Eventually, Linda will figure this lass out, but I do have my concerns about ratability. She did that in the qualifier and finished up nicely. Try that again.
5 AVAYA HANOVER – That really wasn’t a bad debut down at Freehold, before the world shut down. Just “went around there” at Magical Acres, but that’s exactly what they were looking for. Probably not tonight, but if softer spot soon?
6 SKYWAY LEDA – I didn’t see enough from her in the qualifier, so let’s take a pass and watch one tonight.
7 PARTY GIRL HILL – There aren’t enough words to say just how GOOD this lass was in BOTH qualifiers here. I mean she’s a serious racehorse! Might have to deal with #3 at some point, but she just looks flashy, and super-talented.
8 CHILI PEPPER – Slowly working her way into shape. And, I like that she goes a little faster each time. Overmatched.
9 REVOLUTIONARY ROSE – Tired pretty badly in her prep, so she doesn’t look ready for a field like this. Pass for now.
10 ODDS ON SARASOTA – The other lass to take a long look at here. Picked a real bad time to make that miscue last summer, and it ended her season. Put away to mature. Came from off the pace in qualifier so this post hurts a lot.
