Can’t blame those handicappers who might look askance at Beantown Baby (7-2) making her return off a 192-day layoff. But there are reasons why they shouldn’t.
First, she’s getting big-time class relief having competed at higher graded, including list stakes. Further, she makes her first start for Dale Romans who can get them ready, especially with new aquisitions.
Given that 5-furlong turf sprints are won by specialists, the 7-year-old mare has compiled an excellent (13) 6-2-2 slate at the trip and distance and often has won coming off lengthy layups.
Turf ace Javier Castellano comes with the package for a mare that is spotted to win in her return to Hallandale, where she finished a good third in her lone try in a restricted stakes.
Check out her run who rallied nicely in a large field here on DEC 4, Race 4 in 2021.
We’re taking Beantown Baby to win at 3-1 or greater and boxing an exacta with the sharp Spicy Ginger (5-2) for Carlos David, excellent with repeaters, and white hot Luis Saez.
