The ‘Going Gulfstream’ feature to begin the race week in Hallandale is an optional claiming allowances for 3-year-olds and up sprinting a one-turn mile and Seazan (4-1) appears best suited to today’s dynamics.
Claimed by David Carlos for $20,000 two back, the 3YO Khozan gelding Seazan showed immediate improvement on all speed figure scales while turning back to 6-1/2 furlongs vs. faster and classier rivals.
While the effort was a one-paced fourth, he raced 4-wide throughout in the rear of the field, with virtually no chance given that scenario. But that speed-sharpener will serve him well as he stretches back out to a mile. Check the GP video, Race 3, on SEP 25 to see if you agree.
In any case, improvement is expected here as he returns to his optimal trip for a trainer that is profitable going sprint to route, especially with horses making their second start in his barn. Emisael Jaramillo takes the return call on a gelding which he has proven to fit nicely.
Taking Seazan to win at 5-2 or greater and keying him in quinellas with class dropping Twelve Vote Man (5-1) and blinker-improved Big Thorn (6-1).
