The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

With feature race choices limited to sprints this Saturday, we chose the one with the larger field featuring Maryland-bred or Maryland-sired runners for three year olds and up at 6 furlongs.

If anyone has been pointing for this it’s perennial leader Claudio Gonzalez who brings Absolved (6-1) back to state-bred company fresh and sharp, especially if his most recent half-mile breeze is any measure.

Better still his late kick suits the dynamics well here and Gonzalez and Angel Cruz have been doing good work together, especially recently. There is nothing particularly sexy about this runner with the exception of what appears a too generous price.

We’re taking Absolved straight and would be pleased to get 3-1 or more, and key-boxing exactas with speedy three-year-old Abuelo Paps (3-1) and Horse for Course Tommy Shelby (5-1).
