By Marc Lawrence — When preparing to handicap the revised season ending 8-game play-in for the upcoming NBA playoffs, it is important to note that where teams finish among the top eight seeds in each conference does not hold the same weight as usual given the fact the there will be no home court advantage (save Orlando, whose arena is 20 miles from the Disney World venue). Poor Philadelphia. The Sixers were the NBA’s best home team this season at 29-2. They won’t be playing in Philly until next season, meaning they will need to learn to win without the raucous Wells Fargo Center advantage. FYI: Philadelphia went 10-24 on the road in the regular season, the second-worst road mark of the 22 teams playing at Disney. Only Washington (8-24) was worse.

In an effort to get the players on board with the recently announced makeshift season, the NBA has announced its intention of allowing players to wear personalized statements on jerseys as part of a long list of social justice messages the players plan to make through the remainder of the season. Personalized jerseys could say such things as “Black Lives Matter” or “I Can’t Breathe,” bringing light to a social or charitable cause or even display the names of George Floyd or Breonna Taylor, who were killed by police in recent months. “The guys I talked to were definitely excited,” Chris Paul said. “The reason I’m passionate and excited about it is that it gives a voice to the voiceless. It also gives guys a chance to shine a light on something they are passionate about. Otherwise, they may not have been given a chance to express themselves.”

2020 PLAYBOOK Football Preview Guide magazine reports: On the flip side of yesterday’s report on the College Football Overtime chart from this year’s Preview Guide magazine, it shows Kentucky and Wyoming on opposite sides of the ladder in games when coming off an overtime loss. The Wildcats have gone 5-0 ATS while the Cowboys are 0-5 ATS in these games since the inception of overtime in college football in 1996. One extra note of interest: Navy is 0-3 ATS as a favorite but 2-0 ATS as a dog in these contests.
