By Dave Brower, Meadowlands Handicapper — Early double analysis for Saturday, September 5
1 SIR BRADFORD – Really mixed feelings about this guy, in an absolutely wide-open race. He has won here. This is definitely the right level. BUT, boy does that last line look bad. It will take a leap of faith for the Tetrick fans.
2 LYON’S IMAGE – Last time we saw him here, he was great and won! Blew by the field too! Drew a brutal post in the follow-up, so just forget about that. IF barn has him primed and ready, he can win this. Consider that.
3 SHATTERED GLASS – He’s got only one race in a year. So, I still feel he can’t possibly be ready for this. I’ll pass.
4 HONOR ME – Firing back on short rest here, after a less-than-inspiring effort from tough post at Yonkers on Tuesday. He was chasing a 1-5 front-running winner, so he really had no chance. Transitions back into a claimer tonight.
5 LUCK N ROLL K – It feels like a long time ago since he won that race here. Again, this one is wide-open, so it’s tough to eliminate anybody. Last two starts don’t really set me on fire. This one’s up to Corey to get a nice trip.
6 RURAL ART – Barn sends a couple south for big track tries. Okay. To me, this is a BIG step back up in class. He’s nine. Can he really ramp up and go fast enough here? That is a legitimate question.
7 MR CARROTTS – Also raced at Yonkers on Tuesday and had a tough-post, no-move effort. Can’t really hold that against him, but he hasn’t had a big year here either. It’s the same tough post in wide-open race. Good luck!
8 IMAGEOFAROCKER – Got brutalized last try here, so don’t hold that against him. The pair after that in PA weren’t really horrible. Suffering a terrible case of the bad post blues, but he can win this. Looks better than many in here.
9 SOSSY’S KING KONG – Not really sure why this poor guy was “assigned” the outside. Maybe because he won last race? However, that was against much weaker. I would be very surprised if he jumped up and repeated on mile.
Corey Callahan 8 over 5

1-ROBERT’S HANOVER – Those are three straight pretty good tries on the lead out of town in lower level stakes events.
Almost makes me wonder if he will “try” to come from just off the pace here? Have to teach them at times. Dangerous.
2 FATHER OF IRELAND – Ended up scratching at Pocono on Tuesday to race in this spot instead. That’s usually a sign of positive intent. This gelding is a little late to the party, but don’t be surprised if he shows up big. Tough call here.
3 SWAN BY LAND – One of two in here for the barn. This week’s birthday boy, Dexter takes over after the miscue, comeback third on Hambo Eve. That’s a pretty big gap, which always worries me. But, there is some talent here.
4 TRIXLINDSAY – Inexpensive yearling debuts in September, so she’s late to the party too! Let’s watch one.
5 DUCHESSPEDIA – Trond barn has a trio in here and they all look like longshots. This filly is a work in progress.
6 VENTURESOME – Ake thought enough to send this guy all the way to Canada for a shot. He ended up no match that night, but no doubt this is a class drop, AND a switch to A Mac. Both positive indicators. Let’s expect some speed.
7 GOOSE – Shows five erratic efforts so far in the freshman campaign and shows up for a new barn here. Not sure if they bought, or whatever. That was excellent speed offered out of post eight at Philly. Will he trot? I wish I knew.
8 VICTORIANA – It’s never easy for the fillies to beat the colts and that’s the case here, from a bad post too! Probably the best chance of the barn’s three in here, but you take your chances. Homebred does have a win, though. Maybe.
9 RARE MUSCLE – What do we do with this colt, coming off the break? Tetrick had gotten along with him nicely until that last one. The switch to outer post alone will test him. I really don’t know what to expect tonight. Good luck!
