WORST STINKIN’ BET MONDAY

By Top Turf Teddy — The “Worst Stinkin’ Bet of the Day” will be in the 8th Race at Parx.  You’ve heard the term “War Horse,” well, this race at Parx is for “War Geldings.”  The first thing that caught my eye in perusing the past performance record was that 8-Grasshoppin finished in front of the morning line favorite, 1-Navy Commander; the last 2 times they met both in the Roanoke; on 1 September 2018 and 3 August 2019.  Since that last race 8-Grasshoppin was put in way over his head, went off at 52-1 and ran up the track, dead last.  That makes an animal feel real bad emotionally and it takes some time for him to get his confidence back, but with therapeutic long talks with the trainer, along with a couple of races with his peers, where he belongs, he finds himself right back on top again.  An extremely funny man owns this gelding, Michael W. Jester, and you get a heavenly rider, Angel Castillo; what else could you ask for?  If Big Ted were to play this race, would play across the board, and “Box” the top 3 in the exacta.  When you start throwing the word “Box” around, shows you how low the confidence level is.  Always been a “Key” man myself.
