By Marc Lawrence — In 2014, Mississippi State became the first team to rank No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings. The 2020 College Football Playoff Top 25 rankings recently released found a total of 5 Group of Five conference teams included for the first time ever. The SEC paved the way for Power Five conference teams with 5. The Big Ten and the Big 12 were next with 4, followed by the ACC with 3 and the PAC-12 with 2.
