There are no races with names attached to them in the featured race this Saturday but there is one very entertaining optional allowances that has drawn a highly competitively field of 10.
Of those, we’ve narrowed it down to four: Poiema (5-1), Sea Art (3-1), Dem a Wonder (9-2) and Three Witches (6-1). Three Witches is interesting because she’s 1-for-1 and is coming off July layup, Her late-run debut win fits today’s race shape.
Poiema has come into her own this late summer, was a very impressive winner of her last at a mile, she has a good record at today’s trip and Larry Bates blew out the “fastest” feline in a rapid 34 1/5 for today’s turnback.
Dem a Wonder is yet another speed/presser type in this matchup, handles the trip and Emisael Jaramillo fits her very well and she, too, blew out nicely for today’s run.
But there is so much potential speed signed on that the race is begging for a late run type. She has improved for Victor Barboza, as many horses do, she’s nicely positioned and Leonel Reyes completes a strong team.
But we like her last run, too, as she rallied wide into contention, grinded her way to the front and was increasing her advantage at the finish. Check out her run and big forward-figure move at GULFSTREAM PARK, AUG 27, Race 9 in the homepage video section.
Coming into the race seven weeks fresh, we’re taking Sea Art to win at 3-1 or greater and keying her first and second in trifectas with the three fillies above.
