By Marc Lawrence, PlaybookSports.com — The Brooklyn Nets were favorites at the beginning gof the season to win the Eastern Conference, even after the James Harden trade in February. Two month later they went winless in the first round of the playoffs.
This is the first time in NBA history that each of the two preseason title favorites (Nets and Lakers) didn’t win a playoff game.
“I think it was just really heavy emotionally this season,” said Kyrie Irving, whose decision not to get vaccinated hung over the team all year.
“We were trying to exercise every option for me to play … And I think it became a distraction at times,” added Kyrie Irving. You think?!!
And the there was Ben Simmons, who was expected to make his Brooklyn debut this series, wasn’t in the arena for Game 4, reportedly due to back issues. Softer than whipped cream, Simmons watched Tiger Woods come back to compete in pain throughout The Masters earlier this month after breaking both legs, and nearly have one of them amputated, in a car crash. It didn’t inspire him any.
It’s what happens when you don’t have a spine.
