THE YOUNG ONES RUN IT OUT AT WOLVERHAMPTON

By HRI Foreign Staff — As we continue to inch closer to one of the most anticipated events of the year, everybody involved is hoping for the changes in health and safety protocols to come fast and in time for the Festival. It would be a full-circle moment and a great joy having the masses in the stands or around the track once again.

Last-minute tweaks and final adjustments by trainers and riders are a crucial part of these twilight races before the Festival, and just like having rare bits of flats in the middle of the jump season, you still find some sites looking forward and past the Cheltenham Festival with Grand National offers.

Wolverhampton is on the calendar to provide some action just before the week of the Festival, with a seven-race card that follows after the action at Leicester. Nothing yet about the weather and the going of the track, but what we can expect is great entertainment as always.

The young horses will be center stage here at Wolverhampton, with all races being for horses five years old and below. First up will be the BETWAY CLASSIFIED STAKES, a Class 6  race for 5,593 GBP. The field will be packed with thirty-one horses, running a distance of six furlongs, and twenty yards.

The next race will be another Class 6 run, the BETWAY NOVICE MEDIAN AUCTION STAKES.

The race will be of similar distance to the first, with horses three to five years old, and the pot set at 4,300 GBP. At a quater past 6 PM, another Class 6 run of six furlongs and  twenty yards will take place, the LADBROKES WATCH RACING ONLINE  FOR FREE HANDICAP, for horses three years of age, rated 46-60. 13 horses will make up the field, including eight fillies, and will race for a prize of 5,593 GBP.

Later within the hour, the GET YOUR LADBROKES DAILY ODDS BOOST NOVICE STAKES will take centre stage, as seven three-year-olds battle it out over a mile, one furlong and a hundred and four yards. It will be a class 5 run, with a pot of 5,300 GBP.

This race will be followed by two 7 PM races of similar length, starting with the PLAY LADBOKES FIVE-A-SIDE ON FOOTBALL HANDICAP STAKES, another Class 5 run for three-year-olds, with eight horses making up the field.

The horses must be rated 51-70 and will be tied for the highest prizemoney of the day at 6,545 GBP The second of the 7 PM runs, the PLAY TO SCORE AT BETWAY HANDICAP STAKES will start at a quarter to the end of the hour, and will pit eleven horses four years and above against one another.

It will be a Class 6 run, but with a distance of a mile, one furlong, and a hundred and four yards. The rating of the horses will range from 46-55, and the pot will be 5,593 GBP. the BOMBARDIER APPRENTICE HANDICAP STAKES, a Class 5 run of seven furlongs and thirty-six yards will close out the day, with a pot of 6,545 GBP.
