The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

Depending on weather handicappers, there will be showers Friday morning on Long Island, then the forecast gets dicey: Either more showers in the afternoon, or not.

With three big turf events scheduled for Saturday at Belmont Park, including Turf Tiara series topped by the Jockey Club Oaks and Derby going long on the grass, the course will be protected if deemed necessary.

Our choice, Peaceful (6-1) is the on top for two reasons: Today’s slightly longer trip and a value-laden early line–on turf only.

Lightly raced Jonathan Thomas filly is fast, forward, draws the pole with Javier, has bee pointed toward this and the sightly longer trip plays to the strength of her pedigree.

Taking Peaceful to win, 7-2 for low, and key-boxing exactas with Dancing Vega (5-1) and Brooke Marie.

YESTERDAY: Owing to the wet track, Green Light Go was a late scratch from Monday’s G1 Hopeful.
