NFL PRESEASON RELIABLE?

By Marc Lawrence — From this week’s PLAYBOOK Football Newsletter: The recently complete NFL preseason proved to be more of a playground for backup players than starters this year.

With it, thought, a review of the preseason stats shows the league’s best QB Ratings belonged to Jacksonville’s Trevor Lawrence (106.5), following Philadelphia’s Joe Flacco (106.2) and Jaguars’ backup C.J. Beathard at (105.1).

The teams scoring the most points were Tennessee (81) and Denver (80), while the teams allowing the fewest were Green Bay (21), the LA Chargers (23) and Arizona (29).

And finally, the teams surrendering the most points were Philadelphia (90) and Atlanta (79), with the teams with the stingiest scoring defenses were Baltimore (20) and Denver (21).

Let’s see what happens starting this week when everyone is playing for keeps.
