The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

By Marc Lawrence — When Washington hosts Indiana in the final Play-In game to determine the 8th and final seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs tonight they will do so knowing that home teams with losing records in the playoffs, coming off a SUATS loss, are 10-22-4 ATS, including 0-8 SU and 0-7-1 ATS the last eight games.

In addition, NBA skirmishes between a pair of losing squads are rare, but the team with the inferior record (Wizards) is 0-3 SU in these matchups.

With the Pacers packing a 14-6 ATS mark on the playoff road, including 6-0 ATS when coming off a double-digit win, we can hear the Beatles crooning these words in Washington locker room, “I’m a loser, and I’m not what I appear to be.”
