SUPERMAN FOR HIRE

By Marc Lawrence — With the Carolina Panthers choosing to release QB Cam Newton yesterday it opens the door for wide spread speculation on where Newton will land. Sports Illustrated jumped right on the bandwagon when it listed its top five destination spots for Sir Issac. Keep in mind that Newton has been adversely affected by the fact that NFL teams can not get proper medical information on the quarterback whose last two seasons have been cut short due to shoulder surgery and a Lisfranc issue. Rest assured that once Newton gets the green light from doctors he will be a highly sought after commodity. With it, SI listed New England as a top landing spot, saying at the least Bill Belichick can continue to churn QB assets into valuable draft capital and deal Newton once he is healthy to a team that desperately needs a new starting quarterback. The best news I heard yesterday was that soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has stepped up to help with the coronavirus pandemic to finance hospitals in Portugal. ESPN reports Ronaldo and his agent Jorge Mendes will fund North Lisbon’s University Hospital Centre with two intensive care wings and an intensive care wing in Porto’s University Hospital Centre. In total there will be 31 new fully equipped hospital beds to be used for those who have tested positive during this crisis. Three of Ronaldo’s teammates have tested positive for the virus and are in quarantine. It’s time for athletes, celebrities and big businesses in the USA to do the same. Simply put, there is no time to waste.
