This would be an excellent spot for Miguel Vasquez, who gets back on board Isadorable Aida (7-2), to make amends for some indecisive handling of this mare two starts back. Find the replay at your favorite source to see if you agree with our observation of his handling at GP on JUN 5, Race 3.
After breaking with his field and securing rail position into the backstretch, the rider backed out of that spot and wound up between fillies for the backstretch run, also steadying slightly in upper far turn before launching an outside rally that left ‘Aida’ with a lot to do in the lane.
The mare fought off several rivals to take a brief lead as the wire approached until a late rallier came up the fence to nail her by a length in the final strides. That effort came at the $20,000 level, her first start since the Carlos David $12,500 claim.
David protected her in a starter allowances subsequently, freshened her almost two months, but today returns her to the level of claim with Vasquez back on board. Pole sitting, a sharp break away from the barrier should enable her to secure her a cozy inside trip until the real running starts.
We’re taking Isadorable Aida straight at 5-2 or greater.
