Wednesday’s feature race in Lexington is a 6-1/2 furlong sprint on the main track for older optional claiming allowance types and it would appear that the prolific Karl Broberg made a good claim at Churchill SEP 26 and gets his gelding a chance just before Keeneland closes this weekend.
The timing is good because Broberg is sending his horse to one of his favorite venues, where the gelded 5-year-old Horse for Course has compiled a worthy slate of (5) 2-1-1.
Hunka Burning Love (7-2) overcame a bit of trouble at the break and led his group throughout, a tactic he should use to advantage assuming a clean break. His outside post will give Brian Hernandez, who suits these E/P types very well.
Taking Hunka Burning Love to win at 5-2 or greater and boxing exacta with the class-dropper, Done Deal.
YESTERDAY: Simply Breathless was simply terrible, finishing off the board.
