By John Pricci, May 12. 2022— Can you imagine what would had been the fallout if…?
My condo maintenance man said only yesterday, “I’ve watched a lot of horse races and I’ve never seen a horse finish like that in a long race. C’mon, drugs had to be involved.”
Well, thankfully that is not the case. The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission stated on Wednesday May 11 that lab results from post-race samples taken on May 6, and May 7, 2022, at Churchill Downs came back clean.
Can I get an Amen?
Had you bet Rich Strike you would have gotten 80-1 on your money. But if you had asked “do you think an entire industry, horseplayers, fans, and the public at large weren’t thinking?” after the improbable result. My guess is you’d be looking at even money.
A great Kentucky Derby instant classic and a clean bill of health surrounding it.
Oh, and by the way, Preakness 147 is coming up huge thus far. Hoping the positive momentum continues.
