The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

TAMPA BAY TODAY-MAR 27

In today’s Equistaff Sophomore Turf celebrating Florida-breds in Oldsmar, don’t be surprised to see huge improvement from Lemieux in this state-bred event.

When last seen, Lemieux was chasing Graham Motion’s turf-star-in-training, Spendarella, before tiring. Class notwithstanding, it was her first start of the season adding blinkers and first-Lasix.

That seems to be working, given her very crisp half-mile breeze on MAR 18 in preparation.

The only element giving pause is that no rider has been named, unlike the other entrant here who get edwin Gonzalez. Maybe that’s part of a great design.

The clincher is that in her lone start with Florida-breds resulted in a near seven length victory over synthetic footing.

Taking Lemieux to win at 7-2 or greater and an exacta key box with C My Meister (5-2).
