We’ve been telling friends and associates since forever that horses shipping from Presque Isle can win anywhere whatever the surface. Well, one is shipping in for today’s feature race at Gulfstream to compete over Tapeta Track, the same surface in place at PID.
Claimed for $20,000 two starts back, 4YO Midnight Lute filly went very well in her PID finale, rallying late for the place in a competitive optional claimer, now ships here and given a confident rise to the $62,500 level.
On paper, it’s a steep rise but, at 15-1 on the early line, I will pay to find out. See the replay and decide: Presque Isle, OCT 5, Race 7 to see if you agree.
Trainer Gerald Brooks is batting 20% on All-Weather tracks according to Thoro-Graph stats and BRIS stats indicate that Brooks is 23% effective with second-time starters off the claim. Jermaine Bridgmohan ships in for the ride and the filly’s performance figures are competitive in this group.
We’re taking Midnight Bella to win at 8-1 or greater and key-boxing trifectas with the very sharp Kamiko (5-2), Lovely Luv (7-2), getting some class relief here, and Starship Nterprise (5-1), from the live barn of Steve Dwoskin.
