Competitive turf event at the maiden allowance level in today’s sixth race on the Tepeta track. There are two in her with synthetic experience, War Beat (9-2) and Rafuah (4-1).
Both ran well in their debuts; the former a willing third after racing between rivals much of the way and the latter who was second on this course in his debut. Each are getting first-Lasix, as are several others in this spot.
Our preference is Rafuah for several reasons. First, there was the trip in which he leaped in the air at the start and was tentatively handled at times during the backstretch run, steadying several times and forcing him back to last.
When finally asked, Refuah made a strong wide move on turn turn, carrying him even wider into the lane. The winner slipped through between, but the Luis Duco trainee finished strongly while altering course to the inside.
You need to find the replay: Gulfstream Park, DEC 19, Race 10 to truly appreciate the effort. The experience over the course plus the switch to Javier Castellano sealed the deal for us.
Taking Rafuah to win at 3-1 or greater, and key-boxing him first and second in the multiple pools with War Beat and too-late rallier Forwardly (3-1), also using the other half of the uncoupled Chad Brown entry, newcomer Credit Event (2-1) with Tyler G.
