The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

If Bramble Bay’s (5-2) effort in Race 5 on DEC 8 at Tampa Bay Downs isn’t what a perfect stretch out prep looks like, then I’m pretty sure the concept has eluded me. Check out the Tampa Bay Today Video on the homepage and see for yourself.

Allowed to settle early going five furlongs on the Oldsmar lawn, she circled nearly five wide at the turn to reach win contention but tired from her efforts and settle for place. It was her first run in 51 days and had a right to get a little tired.

She does her best grass racing around a second turn, owns a win at the trip, and has used the sprint-to-route tack successfully in the past. No reason why she can’t go so again after getting a late switch to Samy Camacho.

Chad Brown–pretty good on turf I’m told–has second favorite Bleecker Street (3-1) in here winning both lifetime starts on grass.

With her races well spaced, she’s on a path to remain undefeated and while not as fast as ‘Bramble’ her Thoro-Graph figures are forward and there’s no reason for her not to keep marching. Hector Diaz Jr. tales the mount.

The logical play is taking Bramble Bay to win at 2-1 or greater and an exacta box with the undefeated four-year-old. Tomorrow’s HRI promises to have a possible price shot for inclusion into super-exotics.
