The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

Hopefully, the the Gulfstream turf course has dried sufficiently so that today’s ninth race remains on the turf, unlike yesterday.

There is absolutely no knocking favorite Igloo (3-1), who might have been best, but settled for place owing to a roughed start in her GP and turf debut. Considering Jonathan Thomas is 29% second off the layup adds to the appeal.

But that doesn’t mean we’ll automatically settle there, not with the 10-1 early line quote on Wicked Workout, shipping in for Jeremiah Englehart, a 25% proposition.

Coming from far off the early pace, she broke maiden on debut at Laurel Park going 5-1/2 on grass despite a slow start and wide rally into the lane, then showed improved early speed, made the lead at headstretch but settled for place in a game effort.

The switch to Emisael Jaramillo just might be the cure for her slow start antics. At a price we’ll pay to find out. Before you play, check out her debut win for yourself: Laurel Park, OCT 17, Race 1.

Taking Wicked Workout to win at 8-1 or greater and quinellas with Igloo and price shot Wow (30-1).
