The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

GOING GULFSTREAM-JUNE 27

Race 2 will begin the racing week and early Pick 4 with a potential value play to begin the sequence.

The horses that Makia (5-1) are both trained by Saffie Joseph, Le Beau making her first start for the barn with Zayas and No Mo Candy (5-2), making her first start ever with recent go-to rider Drayden Van Dyke.

Well, Makia makes her first run for Jerimiah O’Dwyer, who shows a lifetime profit with both first-time synth and synth to turf runners. Offspring of Street Sense are a solid 14% effective with synth horses.

Makia appeared to need her 2024 debut at Monmouth after a trouble-laden lifetime debut last year at Saratoga.

Adding blinkers for this, she worked sharply from the gate at her PMM base, presumably in those blinkers.

Yes, she’s meeting older but has given the assignment to 7-pound apprentice Melvis Gonzalez, who won his only start for this barn, obviously getting weight from her elders.

Taking Malia to win at 9-1 or greater and key-boxing exotics with both Joseph runners and fast-working British Empress (9-2).
