‘GOING GULFSTREAM’ NOV 14

Closing the ‘Going Gulfstream’ weekend with Sunday’s featured ninth race, a competitive optional allowances at 8 furlongs on the main track. And we’re going for the gusto in this spot.

The two early-line choices will be formidable, although we would prefer second favorite Alonzo (5-2) over early favorite Financial System (7-5) who figures to be pressured from the outside by American Prince (6-1), likely to rebound off a dull return try.

The beneficiary figures to be Alonzo who should he’s capable of chasing from close range and on the inside, as he did winning at a flat mile here JUL 9, Race 3 at Gulfstream Park [see video].

Then last out was a good second in the two-turn G3 Smarty Jones at Parx. Now he’s back at his favorite haunt, at his best trip, a one-turn mile, and reunites with Lasix here.

But we’re taking Sososubtle (10-1), slower than these on performance figures but is not that far behind on number and has a forward pattern.

From the outside with the patient finisher Miguel Vasquez, he’s capable of running them down late, especially if the strong recent bullet half-mile is the measure. We will pay to find out and expect to be rewarded if things go as projected.

Taking Sososubtle to win at 8-1 or greater, a quinella with Financial System, and include the other two named above in both super-exotic pools.
