LAWRENCE: THINK SHANE LOWRY IS HOME JEROME IN BRITISH OPEN? NOT SO FAST

Hold That Thought

Don’t plan on spending that Shane Lowry ticket just yet. Sure a 4-stroke lead heading into the final round The British Open looks imposing but remember Lowry held a 4-shot lead through 56 holes at the 2016 US Open before he shot 6 strokes over in the final round while choking like a dog en route to a third-place finish. And before he won at Abu Dhabi earlier this year his last win was in 2015 at the WGC-Bridgestone. Sure, he’s the hometown hero but fairly tales have a strange way of unfolding unhappy endings. Just saying.

MLB History Book

Cardinals: Flaherty 1-8 $ career in July … NYM: Matz 3-0 $ career vs. Giants, San Francisco: Pomeranz 1-5 $ in July … Boston: 13-1 away Game Three of series this season, Baltimore: 2-12 Sundays this season … NYY: Paxton 1-5 $ in July.

Grinding Out The Profits

While both pitchers in tonight’s ESPN clash between Atlanta and Washington are in wobbly form, the fact of the matter is the Braves are 12-2 at home in Game Three of a series this season, as well as 13-3 on Sundays. With the Nats just 1-3 all-time against Kevin Gausman, and Washington hurler Austin Voth sporting a 5.33 career ERA away from home, the hosts look to be the play tonight.
