The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

The favorite in Saturday’s featured Soldier Dancer Stakes for Florida-breds, Mr. C and Me is going to be a veery tough out and this one, on paper, appears unbeatable. We’re not going to try as a result.

Gelded 6-year-old loves the game, as his (30) 7-6-5 lifetime slate attests and while turf is his specialty, he was versatile enough to win and place in two stats on Gulf’s Tapeta Track.

Despite a rough trip [see GP, May 14, Race 7] last out, she was still a good third in the open class Mr. Steele in his latest and is well spotted in his return to the state-bred ranks for Mike Maker.

With two purposeful breezes since his last, the switch to Edgard Zayas clinches it for us, as we regard Zayas to be one of the premier AW riders on today’s surface.

Taking Mr C and Me to win with no price restrictions and will try to optimize with exacta key-boxes, using the very sharp, late developing 4YO Merlin and Cashier Check, who has been very competitive vs. the choice in prior starts.
