GOING GULFSTREAM – MAR 12

The Grade 3 Hurricane Bertie starts the Rainbow 6 Saturday afternoon and comes down to a two-horse affair between favorites Obligatory (8-5) and Four Graces (9-5).

Most players will use both fillies to begin the sequence but we’re taking another approach.

With their Thoro-Graph figures virtually equal, each laying over the remainder of this six-pack, it comes down to class vs. conditioning. We’re opting for the latter.

No one doubts Bill Mott will have Obligatory ready for season’s debut. The question becomes how ready. Already a multiple graded stakes winner, the goal is securing her first Grade 1 title. If that’s true, then this is a bridge to bigger and better.

Ian Wilkes has nursed Four Grace back to top form and often gets optimum run from his LAY-3 starters, the case today.

Like her rival, she has an affinity for Gulfstream and today’s hybrid trip is ideal for her abilities and style. She’s worked sharply since her last, an excellent between-fillies late rally, a signal that she’s back in top conditon.

Check the Going Gulfstream Video on the HRI homepage of her G2 Inside Information effort: Gulfstream Park, JAN 29, Race 8. We think you’ll agree.

Singling Four Graces seeking the Rainbow gold and will try to optimize in the verticals. See our featured Vale Plays section the the homepage for an optimal approach to betting the ‘Bertie’.
