BROWER IN THE BIKE – FRI

By Dave Brower, Meadowlands Handicapper — Early Double Analysis — Friday, March 26, 2021

Race 1

1 SUMBIGBANK HANOVER – Has now had a couple of races over the track. The second was a little better, so let’s see if that trend continues. He can sit up-close again, from another inside post. I want to see just a tad more now.

2              EAZY PASS – Chased a potentially very good one in that qualifier, and we all know this barn can have one ready off the layoff. Do note the hopples have come off, and that is a VERY good sign! Likely to take all the action with Dex on.

3              VITANI AS – Loses Dexter tonight, but does get some needed post relief. That was a pretty tough trip last week before he made the break. Could go a lot differently here and he does have a chance, IF he stays onstride.

4              REAL MCCOY – Just not going well enough right now, so he looks like a pass again. Let’s see if he stays trotting.

5              CAVALIER GEORGE – It’s taken quite a while to get this guy back to the races. Did stay trotting in latest qualifier, but it sure wasn’t enough to make me want to bet yet. Wait for more.

6              GERARD – Yes, that’s a 1-24 lifetime record, so that’s an issue. Squandered a wonderful opportunity in that one try here, given a perfect trip. Then missed three months, so something went amiss. I need to see a good one first.

7              TEQUILA N ROSES – She took a little bit more betting action last time, but I have to call that start a regression. Pass.

8              BOASTER COASTER – The two “big barns” hook up with a few of their coming-back three-year-olds. This one’s a colt, tackling the inside filly in #2. Boaster chased his $700,000 stablemate last week, but did it willingly. He looks ready. Trainer: Really happy with his qualifier. He was slipping a bit, so had trouble keeping up with stablemate. Added some grab to shoes, so should be better. High-strung horse needs to stay relaxed.

9              MYREANNA – Had this lass drawn a better post, I could probably make a stronger case. She’s been off since October and ended up qualifying at Pocono, not here. It was slow too! Therefore, I think she’s going to need a race or two.

10           COCKTAILS N DREAMS – Disappointing last time, but she missed extra week after that. Tells me something wasn’t right. Tonight’s problem is the strength of this bunch, AND the terrible post. Not sure she can get close enough late.

Race 2

1              ROCKIN RAMBARAN – That trip didn’t go quite the way Mr. Beyer wanted last week, but that’s life! He gets a prime spot here to control this one, and horse’s form looks a lot better than most of these. No excuses from the rail. Trainer: I’m very happy with how he’s been coming out of his races. Come Monday mornings, he feels like a colt again! From the rail, you can expect Troy to be aggressive and the horse obviously loves the front. He’s my pick!

2              HEEZ ORL BLACK N – Vinny G put this guy in a very good spot last week, in race won by 60-1 shot. The race fell apart late, so he should have had more. New driver tonight. Good post again. Just has to find more stamina somehow.

3              MASTER CONRAD – Recently moved into a pretty hot barn right now, but hasn’t had any luck just yet. That could easily change. T Mac knows him now and this is a much better-looking spot than the post nine one. Can be used.

4              MAJOR JESSE – Another that finally gets a decent post to begin from. That alone will help! So will the switch to Yannick. He’s been putting everything in good spots lately. I’m not a big fan of Jesse at 1-46 over two years, though.

5              DELCO LIAR – Was in-to-go on Wednesday at Rosecroft, so I don’t know what happened there. Still a longshot.

6              BIG SWEEP OSBORNE – Looks like the biggest threat to #1, IF Mr. Dunn can get him close enough. That’s not usually one of his problems. Horse tends to lag early, so proper motivation required. I trust him to get it done, and get close.

7              NOTORIOUS – Draws third straight post seven, and it sure hasn’t been very lucky for him! It’s been at least two years since he won a race. He’s stuck outside. I have more knocks than positives here. If he beats me, so be it.
