1 MANHATTAN PLAY – Gets the very tepid call as morning line favorite, in this hard-to-handicap race. She won only once all of last year and that win didn’t even come here. Recent form sees her getting better. Maybe it’s time?
2 DIXIE STAR N – Burned a LOT of betting money last time we saw her. But, that was a month ago too! So, the bad date has me questioning her current condition. On best night, she can win. Is she ready for best? Wish I knew.
3 ROCK FLUSH – Not a whole lot to recommend here. She’s just not good enough to beat these, even at this level.
4 PRETTY IMAGE – Andy did everything he could to get this lass home last week. It almost worked! She’s come around quite nicely for her barn and looks like the one to fear again. The inner post helps. So does that good turn of speed.
5 TRUSSED UP TRUDY – Has that start under her belt. Most horses improve with that experience. I can see who’s driving, so that makes me wonder if we should take a shot. I wouldn’t want underlay price, though. Your call?
6 SAINT ALBRAY – Sure looks like they’ve given up on her. Dangled in tonight for just a $12,000 tag. She has faced and beaten much better than this. Had a much better second qualifier. Is she ready or not? I don’t have that answer.
7 FRANSCHOEK – Took some betting action last week too! Jason B put her in play, but she clearly lacked that knockout punch you need to win here. Now moves back out to rough post, but she does get some class relief. A maybe.
8 OVER SPEEDING – It would be very hard for me to make a strong case for success. I need to see a good one first.
9 AVAYA HANOVER – Never really fired in that first try back at Club Med. Draws the same tough post and would have to change up the strategy. IF she guns, AND finds that Philly form, that would put her in the mix. At a price too!
10 WINDSONG PARISIAN – Another one-time winner from last year. Coming off a break. I’ll pass from post 10.

1 WINGMAN HANOVER – Looking very much like a “work-in-progress for Mr. Del Cid. Not ready yet. Pass.
2 R HERBIE BLUE CHIP – Got bet off the board last week and was super live for Billy D. Billy’s on vacation in Hawaii this week, so he employs the Captain to get the job done. Looks very much like the one to beat off that good effort.
3 THE GREAT PG – Didn’t really make that much of an impact in the first try here. Would need a lot more than that.
4 STITCH HANOVER – Barn change here. We’ve seen the Hoover stable surprise us before. Last qualifier, with Lasix, was best one we’ve seen in while. I guess I’ll take a long look at him out on the track first. Then make a decision.
5 DA BOOGIE MAN – Another work in progress here for Tony C. I’m sure he’s hoping to drive him later on in the GSY or other series. Loses Corey here to the fave, but I expected that. Would still love to see the same speed.
6 MANHATTANUP NO ICE – Picked up checks in his last two, so that’s a good thing. I would still like to see more punch in the stretch. I have to see it first, before I could endorse.
7 STONEBRIDGE SYDNEY – He was just okay in that debut here for the Burke Brigade. Didn’t get bet the way I expected, as #2 ended up the big favorite. I don’t see that changing with the posts being same. Will need a bigger kick.
8 MIZZY BRENDA K – Here’s the fresh face to the group, but where’s she been since December 3? That is the question. I can’t call her last two tries encouraging, but she did show talent at one time. Did she get sick? I don’t know. Trainer: Has been racing well, but is coming off a sickness. Been training well since.
9 PIT MASTER – Also looking very much like a longshot, with all those breaks on view. Not for me from out here.
10 MR BLUMETTI – Having trouble staying off the steward’s list. Not likely to win this from dreaded post 10.
