In Friday’s fifth at Tampa comes a horse that saved ground throughout his last on grass but before you think (perfect trip?) give it a second thought.
This was an example of not having things go well despite lack on ground loss. Eiswein (5-2) was in close quarters all the way around, so much so that her rider had to check back to secure a clear run later.
And that’s exactly what happened. But as finally Eiswein was getting into his rally, the eventual winner blew the race open on the turn.
But instead of retreating from the early move, she maintained her margin and galloped out with some energy, proving much the best.
While this was going one, Eiswein was one of three chasers, and while unable to threaten the winner, was going best of that triad and nearly nailed the place in a good try.
Check out the run to see what you think: Tampa Bay Downs, MAR 9, Race 7. Kelsey Danner, who has a nice touch with her turf runners, reaches out for Daniel Centeno for the re-ride and we believe the outside post will more suit this filly’s running style.
Taking Eiswein to win at 5-2 or greater and an exacta box with improving Scoop There It is (9-2).
