That doesn’t mean the wait for the new season to start must be long. The 2023 Horse Racing season begins with a bang in January 2023 with some of the best horse betting promotions. Here are the USA’s most prestigious events that you should look out for in order of occurrence.

The annual Grade One US thoroughbred race for three-year-old fillies, La Brea Stakes, is run on a seven-furlong dirt course at Arcadia’s Santa Anita Park in California, United States. Kalypso won last year’s race with John Velazquez as the jockey and Bob Baffert as the trainer.
Pegasus World Cup
The Pegasus World Cup race is considered a Grade one US Thoroughbred race annually contested at Hallandale Beach Gulfstream Park in Florida in late January or early February for horses four years old and over along a course that’s one and one-eighth miles long.
Under rider Irad Ortiz Jr. and trainer Todd A. Pletcher, Colonel Liam took first place in the event in both 2021 and 2022.
Kentucky Derby
The famous Kentucky Derby Festival in Louisville ends with the Kentucky Derby, an annual horse race. The first Saturday in the month of May is usually the date of the event.
Three-year-old Thoroughbred horses compete in the Grade one race at the Churchill Downs track over a one-and-a-quarter-mile course. The winner gets a blanket spread of roses, thus the name “The Run for the Roses.”
Due to its estimated length, it’s sometimes called “The Fastest Two Minutes in Sports” or “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports” in the US. It’s the opening race of the Triple Crown, which also includes the Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes. Rich Strike won last year’s race with jockey Sonny Leon and trainer Eric Reed.

The Preakness Stakes annual meet is a US race for thoroughbred horses that takes place at Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore on Armed Forces Day, which is also the third Saturday in the month of May each year. It’s considered a Grade one race that’s conducted on dirt over 9.5 furlongs.
Since the winning horse gets a Maryland state flower blanket draped across its withers, the event has earned the moniker “The Run for the Black-Eyed Susans.” Early Voting won the 2022 race with José Ortiz as the jockey and Chad Brown as the trainer.
Belmont Stakes
The Belmont Stakes is a three-year-old Thoroughbred American Grade one stakes event held at Belmont Park in Elmont, NY. Run for more than 1.5 miles. It’s customarily the third and last race of the Triple Crown and is dubbed The Test of Champions and The Run for the Carnations.
It takes place on the first or second Saturday in June. Mo Donegal won the 2022 title under jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. and trainer Todd Pletcher.
