The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

By Marc Lawrence, — The question is, was Game Four of the NBA Finals an aberration or a trend?

Game Four of the series was very different — a 38-point blowout win by Dallas to force a Game Five back in Boston tonight.

Dallas has figured some things out. The Mavs went back to what got them to the Finals, keeping one of their centers — Daniel Gafford or Derrick Lively — near the rim to take away easy buckets, then rotating to shooters at the arc. It worked, as the Celtics shot 13-of-33 in the paint in Game Four.

Tonight might be a different story, though, as the last four times Boston lost a game by 30 or more points, they bounced back to win each time by an average margin of 20 points per game
