The fifth race in Olsdmar for older preliminary allowance runners on turf over-subscribed and the runner who caught out eye is saddled on the AEs, 13-Mr Matuschek (7-2).
The gelded six year has interesting form that research reveals is better than it appears at first blush.
Mr. Mtuschek showed improvement to win his first start on the raise off the Diane Morici claim. He raced very wide in a subsequent Tapeta start then was entered on turf which was rescheduled to the main track.
Grass is what the trainer has been looking for, the gelding having won twice on this ground and he suffered through a horrendous trip in his only start on grass this year, coming from 10th of 11 for fourth, beaten only 3-1/4 for the win. Subsequent to his recent off-turfer, he’s worked sharply at his Palm Meadows base. Two of his siblings have also won on grass and now returns to that surface with a significant switch to Daniel Centeno.
He’s won more races than any of his rivals but those claiming wins don’t count against him under today’s conditions.
We’re taking him to win at early lone odds or greater and key-boxing him in exactas with Dark and Fitzy (9-2), Damir (7-2) and pole sitting price shot Vintner (15-1).
