By Marc Lawrence — From the 2021 PLAYBOOK Football Preview Guide Magazine: When asked how he felt about the Bulldogs chances coming out of spring camp this season Mississippi State head coach Mike Leach said, “I’m never pleased. This isn’t a very pleased business. But I saw improvement in all of the them.”
Were those words of frustration following Leach’s bittersweet debut in Starkville last season, or was it a pat on the back?
The Bulldogs had 26 players make their first-career start during the 2020 campaign, which tied for the most in the country with Clemson and Navy.
In addition, the Mad Professor saw to it that a total of 44 freshmen saw playing time – the third-most in the nation behind Syracuse and Arkansas.
That should help show pleasing results in 2021.
