The feature race that begins Gulfstream’s spring/summer meet is a state-bred 1 mile 70 yards on Tapeta Track ,and while it didn’t attract a large field, it drew a highly competitive lot. A fair price in any runner seems assured.
After consulting the usual sources, BRIS PPs, Thoro-Graph, and video analysis, we landed on the Martin Drexler charge, Marisa’s Mission (7-2).
His running style suits the dynamics here, appears properly spotted at the preliminary allowance level, and his TG figures on synth is fast and consistent–but wait there’s more.
Luis Saez is sticking around one more day in advance of Friday’s Keeneland opener, he’s 2-for-3 at this trip and 2-for-5 in Hallandale–2-for-9 everywhere else.
Further, Drexler 21% on synth overall, is a profitable 29% going turf to All-Weather, the case here. In his only start for this barn on the AW, he was completely eliminated at the break after winning both priors on the surface here. We thinking rebound:
Check out Gulfstream Park, JAN 29., Race 1, then put a line through that effort.
We’re taking Marisa’s Mission to win at 3-1 or greater and a quinella with Uno Tiger (3-1) for Kathleen O’Connell–also profitable with AW runners–and Paco Lopez take the re-ride.
