GOING GULFSTREAM – APR 7

In the spirit of taking what is given, a short price but a solid cold exacta, and key single for the Late Pick 4, we offer Ali Oop Johnny (7-5) in today’s sixth in Hallandale.

More significantly, trainer Martin Drexler is taken what is given, the same condition for his horse at which he won his last, the fact that ‘Johnny’ obviously likes it in South Florida (2-for-4), as does Drexler who enjoyed a terrific winter in the sunshine state.

Clearly, it’s getting some shipping money for the trip back home to Canada–or wherever he sets up next.

Not only is his Thoro-Graph figure the fastest of his last-race rivals, but the improvement has been incremental. There’s not good reason not to expect a repeat of his last which will be plenty good enough.

We’re taking Ali Oop Johnny to win, on price restrictions, and a cold exacta (with small reverse) with XY Time (6-1), beaten three lengths by the choice in his season’s debut and will appreciate the mini-turnback to the one mile trip (2-for-2).
