NYRA AT BEL UNTIL 10-27

As reported Tuesday by HRI, The New York Racing Association filed a request with the New York State Gaming Commission to keep the final three weeks of the Belmont Park meeting at Belmont Park. First race post time will revert to 1 pm.

A contingency plan to race at Aqueduct Racetrack from Oct. 11-27, was scratched because construction of the Arena for the New York Islanders has not interfered with training or racing at Belmont

NYRA’s director of communications and media relations Pat McKenna said, “There was a clear consensus that the construction had minimal impact on live racing operations, whether that’s morning training or live racing, and as a result we will be seeking to conduct the full meet here at Belmont Park.”

  1. The change should doubler attendance during the week from about 200 to 400.Who knows if they open the 3rd floor maybe another 100 in attendance. All call,a good idea to make the change.

    1. Aaron-
Doesn’t look like they’ll open all the floors this year, unless they start an indoor roller hockey league.
I’m going out for the jockey Club Gold Cup and the Garden Terrace is actually open for the day….maybe third time this meet.
