Trainer Richard Mandella reports that Omaha Beach will miss his scheduled start in the Shared Belief Stakes at Del Mar because he developed a virus this week.
Mandella told Rick Flatter of VSiN the War Front colt has mucus and congestion, but no fever, and that the throat problem that required surgery and kept him out of the Kentucky Derby is not there.
Mandella will reassess the colt’s future schedule after he returns to the track for workouts. The Breeders’ Cup Classic is still his ultimate goal.
