All he needed was for the Spurs to beat the Thunder in Game Seven of the Western Conference Finals to cash a lottery-ticket payday.
Only one player on San Antonio’s roster had previous Game Seven experience in the NBA playoffs.
At one point, DraftKings offered him a little more more than $500,000 to cash out the bet early.
He declined.
Instead, he let his $2,500 four-team money-line parlay ride. When the Spurs stunned the Thunder 111-103 on Sunday night in Oklahoma City, he cashed a massive $1,713,200 payday.
Here’s how the four-leg parlay unfolded:
- Ticket 1 – United States over Canada in February to capture its first gold medal since the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” team [check]
- Ticket 2 – No. 1 seed Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball to win the NCAA Tournament [check]
- Ticket 3 – Two other winning legs [check]
- Ticket 4 – Spurs over Thunder in Game Seven [check]
