TAMPA BAY DOWNS-JAN 3

Pickings are slim today owing to a weather forecast indicating a 70% chance of rain. Hence, we’re looking away from turf today to find the classiest race on the card, an N2L at the $25,000 claiming level.

Having drawn a field of seven, the main contenders in our view are all exiting the same race. Check out the TAMPA BAY TODAY VIDEO on the home page and study the efforts of the three horses we believe will succeed. The one that interests most is Action Warrior (10-1).

On DEC 18, RACE 8 in Oldsmar, Action Warrior had little chance off the lengthy layup, Protected by trainer Arnaud Dobber, the allowance group he faced that day overmatched the 84-1 chance but his race was useful, chasing a strong pace before tiring going 7 furlongs.

Entered back quickly here, he returns at his proper level with a significant drop into limited winners lifetime, he turns back and trip, and has the needed early speed to hound expected favorite West Side Warrior (9-2) for the team of Bennett and Camacho, in a battle of gelded 4-year-olds.

Gary Wales rides him back and the price is attractive enough to throw deep in this spot.

Taking Action Warrior to win at 6-1 or greater and key-boxing exactas with wet-track pedigreed West Side Warrior and the best late runner, Soaring Bird (5-2) who had little chance when he rallied wide in that contest but will be suited by easier dynamics and the return of blinkers.
