There are two sprint for Florida-bred sires going seven furlongs, one for fillies and for for males, and it’s that event, race 6, that appears a bit more competitive in which the betting dollars may be spread out wider, hopefully providing max value vis a vis the true adds for victory.
The horse that gets out attention comes from a barn that shipper north from South Florida last weekend for the victory and it appears that trainer Ralph Nicks has been eyeing this spot for a while. Freshened for seven weeks awaiting this, Shivaree (5-2) appears very well intended. After all he won this race as a 3-year-old in 2020.
And it wasn’t an easy victory, the Awesome of Course chestnut had to to alter course twice before make his winning rally between horses, not easy but still got it done running a career best Thoro-Graph figure in the process. Check out the Tampa Bay Today Video on the HRI homepage, for Race 3 here on DEC 12 last season.
Shivaree worked sharply for this recent at his South Florida base, has an enviable record at this trip and owns more than enough conditioning, turning back from consecutive one-turn miles at Gulfstream. Samy Camacho was aboard for two of his last three runs, winning three of his last 10 rides for this outfit.
Taking Shivaree to win at 2-1 or greater and key-boxing exactas with R Mercedes Boy (7-2) and Well Defined (2-1) [see lead column on homepage for more].
