HALLANDALE BEACH, FL — It turns out that Irad Ortiz Jr.’ recent gate mishap was more serious than first believed. After further testing, it was revealed Ortiz suffered a fracture knee when pinned in the starting gate.
He was to return today but instead is likely to miss three to four weeks.
This has been a rough end of 2021 and start to the new year as Ortiz had recently returned from a 30-day suspension for two disparate instances while riding in New York.
