By Marc Lawrence AUG 2, 2019—Does holding out for a new contract while entering the final year of a contract reek of greed? I’d say so and with it I’d tell L.A. Chargers RB Melvin Gordon to take a seat on the pines and watch the 2019 season unfold – without pay. If you’re not a man of your word and self-indulgence is your game (read: Le’Veon Bell), then take your act elsewhere. I’ll take 2019 Hall of Fame inductee center Kevin Mawae, who had to snap the ball left-handed for five games in 2004 because of a broken right hand, over a soft-as-Charmin Melvin Gordon, the holdout who barely averages 4.0 Yards Per Rush and is a notorious fumbler, any day of the week. Its time professional sports owners tell today’s overpaid athletes to stick it where the sun doesn’t shine. And now I’ll hop off my soapbox. |

Safe to say the Washington Nationals call Arizona its second-home these days, having win 10 of their last 11 games in the Grand Canyon state. On the other side of the coin, Diamondbacks hurler Robbie Ray is 0-6 in his career team-starts in this series. You know the deal. |
