The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

TAMPA BAY TODAY – APR 30

Today’s seventh race is trappy what with several second-time starters likely to improve and newcomers from capable debut outfits, all making value mandatory.

One such entrant fitting that description is City Humor (6-1).

Going 5-1.2 furlongs last out he was out-quicked as he chased the pace throughout but remained one-paced in the lane.

But the Gerard Ochoa trainee has two things in his favor here: one is the added distance for which he has experience at the quirky 6-1/2 furlong trip.

But the promise of a wet track, for which sire Distorted Humor comes into play, is the clincher. We expect that the aggressive Angel Arroyo will put him in this early and his pedigree will get him the rest of the way.

Taking City Humor to win at 6-1 or greater and boxing exactas with second-starting Bold Advance (3-1) adding blinkers for Kathleen O’Connell and The Great Cesar (6-1) from the capable Victor Barboza barn, adding favorite Sopiha’s Prince (8-5) to the trifecta mix.
