The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

Interesting five furlong sprint to start the late double in Hallandale and an interesting price shot that has the tools for an upset, mainly a top pedigree, and abundance of speed, good post and connections.

Glen Hill Farm has bred themselves a promising synth specialist in Wide West (8-1), a daughter of Frankel from a young granddaughter of Speightstown, a first foal.

After a strong-paced maiden breaker, Wide West returned in the Hollywood Beach, finishing four by a half length after dueling on the pace throughout.

Her next start in the Melody of Colors, her three-year-old debut was even tougher as she chased a pace of 43 2/5 on turf, understandably tiring from that effort.

Now she returns to her winning surface for a barn that’s profitable in LAY 2 scenarios and significantly a worthy 25% efficient going from turf to synth.

Trainer Tom Proctor reunites her with winning partner Edwin Gonzalez who should take advantage of a coveted inside draw.

Taking Wide West to win at 4-1 or greater and an exacta box with Time Passage (3-1) looking to go 2-for-2 on Tapeta for Eddie Plesa, 18% profitable with his repeaters.
