Most Americans will be rooting for the Phillies buts perhaps they should be careful what they wish for. Every time the City of Brotherly Love has won the Fall Classic, the U.S. has experienced a recession.

For example: The Panic of 1910-11. Philadelphia won consecutive titles in 1910-11.

The Great Depression: the Philadelphia A’s won consecutive titles in 1929-30

1980 Recession: The Phillies won their first World Series in 1980.

The Great Recession: The housing bubble burst a month before the Phillies won in 2008.
